Painting the Masters

So I was painting these today and I thought "Hey! Here's something I can put up on my blog!" In my attempt to learn how to paint (which is taking much blood, sweat and tears) I decided to copy some of the masters. These two paintings are copies of two Russian impressionists, who the great Sam Michlap turned me on to. Painting from their paintings helps me see how these incredible painters approached color and how far I have to go. So enjoy!

(oh and the names of the painters are: Alexander Gulyayev and Zoya Samoilenko, I'm not sure which order blogger is going to post these paintings, so I'll just give you the names of the painters and let you sort out which one is attributed to which.)

Sweet Hot-diggity!

WOW! It has been a long time since I've posted. I'd like to apologize to everyone for getting soooo lazy. Work has been terribly busy. I promise more posts to come soon and would like to thank you guys for being so patient and for all your wonderful comments. So in order to make up for my tardiness I thought I would copy the great John Nevarez and put down some links to some artists who I find inspiring.

Check back soon!
